“It’s truly difficult to express the way dance has influenced my life. It has
shaped me into the person I am today; becoming more than just a hobby,
it has become my life. Dance not only gives me a sense of
accomplishment and pride, it gives me a second home with a group of my
closet friends who have watched me grow mentally and physically. Dance
has created a place for me to express myself. There is no better feeling
than the feeling I get performing; it’s my comfort zone and defines who I
am.”
“There are a ton of people I would like to thank as I finish my high school
career, but especially my parents for everything they have done for me. I
would not have been able to participate in dance without their help and
support. They are, and always have been, my biggest supporters; never
missing a performance and pushing me to be the best I can. Without them,
I wouldn’t be the dancer, or person, I am today. Also, I want to thank my
sister whom I have danced by her side all my life. Even though she may
not be much older, she became a role model for me in our dance life.
Lastly, I want to thank Amber. To most people, Amber is just a dance
teacher or dance coach, but to me, she became a second mom. I knew I
could go to her for anything. She helped me through obstacles in my life
and she supported me with all my decisions. She pushed me to excel in
life, not only in dance. She has made a huge impact on my life and the
thought of never dancing for her again after this year breaks my heart,
but, I know she has prepared me to be able to dance for other teams in the
future. I know I couldn’t have achieved what I have in my dance life without
these people. I owe it all to them for where I stand today”…Emily
